Residential Life: March 2025 News
We celebrated Lunar New Year, visited Magic Mountain, and welcomed Brazilian exchange students to the halls.
On January 27th we celebrated Lunar New Year with a special dinner, sharing of traditions from different students and faculty members and trivia. The weekend before we made homemade dumplings to eat during our dinner. Students enjoyed going out with their friends, with Res Life staff and parents and guardians who were in town. On February 11th we had our annual Galentines event where we celebrate the power of sisterhood. We had dinner together, followed by a few rounds of our “Roommate Game”- where roommate pairings test their knowledge of how well they actually know each other from what their favorite shows are, their boba orders and even what shampoo their roommate uses! This game is always a hit and is an evening full of laughter! On February 25th we had our first ever Black History Month dinner where we enjoyed a presentation on why the cuisine we ate is important to African Americans, learned about important Black women and why February was chosen as the month that we would celebrate Black History Month.
This semester has continued to be full of outings off the hill, exploring all of LA! Those that were evacuated in Long Beach got to spend a lot of time exploring that area and loved it! We have been on walks around the Rose Bowl, eating delicious food at the Arcadia Mall, lots of trips to Target, roller skating, grocery shopping at 99 Ranch, went to Six Flags Magic Mountain to ride roller coasters, shopping at Westfield Century Mall and explored Little Tokyo. We have also enjoyed some fun on-campus activities such as making vision boards for the New Year, going swimming in the pool, watching movies, cooking in the clubroom, playing board games, and enjoying watching the Super Bowl together- especially the halftime show. Please see the attached photos to see a bit of these activities in action!
