My experience as a basketball team manager on the Hill inspired my interest in sports management. So if everything works well and I see myself there in the future, I may focus on eSport marketing and management.
Please describe an experience, class or teacher on the Hill that sparked a passion or interest that continues to this day.
I once had a debate with Mr. Bernstein about information bias and censorship during lunch. This debate inspired me so much and enlightened my interest in social psychology. We talked about how media and politicians use second-hand information to twist and manipulate people's opinions and ways of thinking. I always thought that changing and affecting how a group of people think is one of the hardest things in this world. At that moment, I was wondering why and how framing and selecting information could be so powerful that they could actually do the magic. Therefore, I began my journey of studying social psychology and looking forward to exploring more in the future.
With Veritas, the Latin word for truth, at the center of a Flintridge Sacred Heart education, what value has that brought to your life?
The passion of seeking truth and being honest.
What is your favorite spot on campus and why?
I think it would be the Octagon. I really like going to there at night because I got to see this wonderful night view with all the sparkling lights in the city and enjoy the precious silence on the Hill. I felt like I was faded away from the hustle and bustle in the secular world and calmed with inner peace.
As a boarding student, what was the best part about living on campus?
That I got to live with other girls and learned the value of sisterhood. As an only child, I had never shared a bedroom before. I had no idea what it would be like to have siblings and sharing a room with sisters. I am very grateful that I could have this experience to live with other Tologs for four years. It felt really good to have so many sisters living together in the boarding hall and always have people to talk to.
What is your current career?
I am currently a Junior at UC Irvine majoring in social psychology and minoring in management. I would like to pursue a career in sales & marketing.
What's your proudest accomplishment so far?
That I came to study abroad in the U.S. when I was 14. I overcame my fear, stepped out of my comfort zone, made plenty of friends, learned a lot of new values, and grew so much more than my parents' expectations.
What three word describe you?
Curious, proactive, detail-oriented
What do you love about Flintridge Sacred Heart?
The sisterhood, veritas and the education that helped me to become an independent lady.
What advice do you have for someone applying to Flintridge Sacred Heart?
To really get involved on campus and get to know different student bodies. So if you were a day student, I recommend you to talk to the boarding students, get to know them and do something fun together. We have students from all over the world. It is very fun to know about new cultures, learn about their traditions, and introduce your culture to them. If you were a boarding student, I recommend you to step out of your comfort zone, get to know the day students and their culture. Living and studying in another country may seem scary but you would love this experience if you make friends.
What do you do for fun?
I love drawing postcards, playing golf and hiking with friends. But recently I spend more time on making cupcakes and desserts since COVID-19 made me a stay at home chef.
Anything else you want to share about yourself?
My experience as a basketball team manager on the Hill inspired my interest in sports management. So if everything works well and I see myself there in the future, I may focus on eSport marketing and management.
