What I love about the Research Program is that students are told to choose a topic of special interest to them. For me, this made it so that my first introduction to rigorous research was genuinely thought-provoking and enjoyable, and this encouraged me to continue bringing the spirit of research into my life in the future. It taught me to pursue the topics I am passionate about, dig deeper, ask questions, and delve into information with a critical mind.

Please describe an experience, class or teacher on the Hill that sparked a passion or interest that continues to this day.

While there are undoubtedly many learning moments, relationships, and experiences from the Hill that have helped shape who I am today, one in particular that stands out is the Junior and Senior Research Projects. What I love about the Research Program is that students are told to choose a topic of special interest to them. For me, this made it so that my first introduction to rigorous research was genuinely thought-provoking and enjoyable, and this encouraged me to continue bringing the spirit of research into my life in the future. It taught me to pursue the topics I am passionate about, dig deeper, ask questions, and delve into information with a critical mind. Having Ms. Murphy (the Librarian and founder of the program) as one of my advisors guiding me only magnified all of this.

With Veritas, the Latin word for truth, at the center of a Flintridge Sacred Heart education, what value has that brought to your life?

Veritas has taught me to seek out and value authenticity in all aspects of life.

What is your favorite spot on campus and why?

My favorite spot on campus has always been the walk from Junior Lot up to Junior Patio. If you turn around, you have a beautiful view of the bridge and original building set against the backdrop of the mountains. I always found it to be a peaceful way to start the day.

What is your current career?

After graduating from Duke in May 2020, I began my first full-time job at Bank of America in San Francisco. In my main role, I work as a Foreign Exchange Transactions Analyst, concentrating on product development and management. However, because of the exceptional times I have also had the opportunity to assist with the PPP loan program for several months.

What's your proudest accomplishment so far?

When I began my freshman year of college, I wrote down two goals I wanted to accomplish by the time I graduated: to have a job that allowed me to be independent, and to have formed genuine friendships. Having these goals in mind always kept things into perspective for me, and when I graduated in May 2020 I was able to look back and proudly know that I accomplished both. I not only formed new relationships, but also maintained many of the ones that began at FSHA. Similarly, I not only found a job that not allows me to be independent, but also one that I find rewarding and challenging as well.

What advice do you have for someone applying to Flintridge Sacred Heart?

Embody Veritas by being your most genuine self, and what is best for you will follow!

What do you do for fun?

Read, spend time outdoors, and enjoy the company of friends & family.
